Leicester City fans on the other hand had, ahead of Monday night, seen their team lose 14 of their last 15 PL games.

The last seven PL matches were all defeats without scoring a goal. Whilst the last Premier League goal that Leicester fans had seen their team score at the King Power, was back on 8 December 2024.

So have the events of Monday night improved the mood amongst Leicester fans…?

Leicester fans commenting, after seeing their team outclassed by Newcastle United, via their Foxes Talk message board:

‘This is in my opinion the worst team to play at this level since Derby, and in some ways it’s even worse because back in Derby’s day in this league teams had a lot less mercy. While we’re only losing games 2/3-0 that is largely due to energy conservation. Newcastle could’ve easily had 8/9 tonight but just thought better of it.’

‘You just cannot believe the decline.

I think if Newcastle had some sort of disaster which wiped out their entire squad, a Chapecoense like incident, I don’t think they would fall as hard as we have done in the last three years.

I’ve seen some bad fall offs but this is just beyond anything you could believe possible.’

‘You think it can’t get any worse… yet it does. Week after week. There has to be some accountability. But nothing happens. He even picks the same (losing) team again!

This club is run like a corporate circus where the only performers are clowns. On the board. On the bench. On the field.

And there are still some weirdly misguided fans happy to clap them into the abyss (presumably on the basis that they are ‘proper’ or ‘loyal’ supporters).

You reap what you sow. Shame on all of them.’

‘This is really hard to cope with.

They are really, really bad. They look like they don’t train. So slow and weak physically and really clumsy and just awful on the ball.

I mean they really do look like they’re on strike.

I don’t know where we go from here but from the second Enzo left, it’s really looked like sabotage.

As a fan, this season has been the worst hand we could have been dealt.

I went to my first game in 1986 and this is the first time where I genuinely can’t think of anything I like about the club at all.

It’s actually quite upsetting.’

‘At least Barnes goal wasn’t very good.’

‘I actually found myself wanting him to do well whenever he got the ball. That’s how I feel about us at the moment. If I never went again I wouldn’t be bothered.

* checks diary, oh yea planning on going to the Liverpool game! If only to see the plane banner.’

‘Look on the bright side, when we do eventually score just think of the reaction. We’ll trigger the Richter scale again, there’ll be honesty flags flying high, beer will run out in pubs and we’ll all laugh and sing our little hearts out.’

‘Really need to include a bus top tour around the city ending in a reception at the town hall …. maybe a statue of the next scorer … placed near some disused toilets.’

‘The second goal summed up this club. Embarrassing. It gets worse each game.’

‘When Schar struck the ball there were three Leicester defenders goal side of Murphy, when he finished it there wasn’t a Leicester defender within about 8 yards of him. Not only are we at a disadvantage ability wise but if the players are not prepared to play with 100% effort then we’re going to lose game after game.’

‘First team in football league history (136 years) to lose 8 home games in a row without scoring

Record breakers!’

‘We drew the second half.

That’s decent.’

‘Thought we passed the ball excellently today

Albeit they were all to newcastle players but progress is progress.’

‘I think the worse part is how quickly it was over.’

‘Hang your heads in shame Leicester players

you disgust me.’

‘And the Dutchman – as always – racing across the pitch to the opponent’s star players to disassociate himself with us and try and stay relevant with elite players.’

‘The first two minutes were the most threatening we have looked in weeks yet still ended up 1-0 down.’

‘Where was Skipp? If he plays we probably nick a point tonight I reckon.’

‘Alright Oliver it’s bedtime for you now.’

‘Two managers have left Southampton since we last scored at home.’

‘At least Barnes goal wasn’t very good.’

‘Newcastle are more direct, probably why they are where they are.’

We had a pretty terrible atmosphere when we were rocking under Rodgers in the first half of 19/20. Can’t exactly blame it on the standard of football

Last time the KP was constantly loud was for the Champions League games.’

‘Ive been to Liverpool, Leeds and the new darlings Newcastle, plenty of time over the years, and never heard a peep out of them, in some games, despite them being touted as the best atmospheres in the country. Even last season away at Newcastle, until their injury time winner, we could have been sat in a Doctors waiting room once the game had got going!’

‘Anfield in general is absolutely dreadful. The worst of the big tourist grounds by a mile.’

‘I’m not convinced you’ll get raucous atmosphere with a more family/women/ multi-ethnic welcoming environment, I’m sure the decline in a raucous atmosphere is the gradual reduction in testosterone youths who’ve been priced out by having to pay match day prices as they are not traditionally ST holders coupled with not being able to congregate inside on a match by match basis.’

‘I’d say only two teams that can compete with our lack of atmosphere in the PL are probably Bournemouth and Southampton.’

‘When we won the league, we were the best fans you could ever wish for.’

‘Not sure on the attendance but there were plenty of empty seats, I would say there was probably 23,000 – 25,000 max there last night. Although the atmosphere was more like 250.’

‘Newcastle fans saying Harvey Barnes the worst signing under the new owners. Only 6 Prem starts with Gordon and Murphy preferred. Would you want him back if we stayed up?’

‘Newcastle are walking around the pitch but still able to beat our man. It’s gone beyond embarrassing its more horrific, Newcastle must know they could easily get more but showing some respect.’

‘A lot of newcastle fans in the home end tonight.’

‘Watching this with my father in law ( Newcastle fan) and he can’t believe how bad we are. I have had to then tell him this is our best attacking display for some time!!’

‘Pure training match for Newcastle.’
