Leeds United’s Versatile Winger Ideal Replacement for Bayern Munich-Linked Youngster at PSG, Expert Says | OneFootball

Leeds United’s Crysencio Summerville has been frequently linked with Paris Saint-Germain lately. The Parisian club has also been rumored to be interested in other top wingers like Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Athletic Club’s Nico Williams.

The 22-year-old played 49 games for Leeds United in the 2023-24 season, scoring 21 goals and providing 10 assists for the Championship team.

According to a recent report from ESPN NL, PSG and Liverpool are the front-runners to sign Summerville. In fact, the new Reds coach, Arne Solt, has already spoken with the player.

With the rumors swirling, journalist Robin Bairner spoke with PSG Talk and noted the traits that Summerville has that make him an ideal target for the Parisians. Moreover, Bairner notes that the Dutchman could be the perfect replacement for Xavi Simons whose future appears not to be in Paris amid recent Bayern Munich links.

“There’s some very good players in the championship,” Bairner said. “It’s not typically a market that you’d expect to see PSG shopping in, admittedly, but Summerville recorded 21 goals and 10 assists in 49 appearances for Leeds last season which are excellent numbers. I think in terms of style, you’re probably looking at him being your sort of Xavi Simons replacement in terms of what he’ll give to the team.

“I mentioned his goals and assists there, but equally he’s versatile. He can play down either wing, perhaps not quite as versatile as Simons, but he’s got the same sort of creative spark. He’s very good at dribbling and he’ll also give you a good defensive edge as well. He’s got strong in recoveries in terms of tackling and pressing the ball. So there’s certainly elements there that Luis Enrique is really going to like.”

As for how much PSG will need to pay, transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano recently reported that it could take a fee between £35 million and £40 million to secure the Dutch winger.
