Leeds United have announced they have signed Sean Longstaff from Newcastle United.

The 27-year-old has penned a four-year contract that is set to keep him at Elland Road until 2029. The fee is worth £12 million plus potential add-ons, per BBC Sport.

Leeds had multiple bids rejected by Newcastle for Longstaff, with their last offer worth £10m plus £2m in add-ons.

But they returned with another bid to get a deal over the line for the midfielder.

Leeds have been very active in the ongoing 2025 summer window. They bolstered their attack by wrapping up moves for Jaka Bijol and Lukas Nmecha.

The Whites then secured deals for defenders Sebastiaan Bornauw and Gabriel Gudmundsson.

And now they have brought in Longstaff, who is a Premier League-proven midfielder.

The English footballer has been at Newcastle for the last 19 years. He has made 214 appearances across all competitions for the Magpies, registering 16 goals and 11 assists in the process.

The 27-year-old was part of Eddie Howe’s squad that lifted the Carabao Cup last season, featuring in five matches in the competition.

However, he struggled for first-team opportunities generally in 2024-25, starting just eight games in the Premier League.

Longstaff has now joined Leeds where he will hope to get regular football under manager Daniel Farke.

The Yorkshire outfit will be looking to stay in the English top-flight after earning promotion by clinching the Championship title last term.

They have made some excellent acquisitions so far, which shows their strong intent to keep their place in the Premier League.
