The ‘Leeds are falling apart again’ chant has reverberated around stadiums across the land over the past few years.
However, it will be the ironic theme tune that accompanies the club back to the promised land of the Premier League at the end of the season.
Last night’s 3-1 victory at Sheffield United moved them five points clear at the top of the Championship. Promotion is within their grasp.
Leeds blew a golden opportunity to win promotion to the top flight last season, sparking glee amongst rival fans.
However, recent victories over Sunderland and Sheffield United have demonstrated increased resilience under manager Daniel Farke.
Their ability to battle back from losing positions is an admirable trait and one which should serve them well on the run-in.
Leeds have now played all their main rivals for automatic promotion, and their remaining fixtures look relatively favourable.
There seems to be a different feel about this Leeds team – one which should ensure they will not fall apart as the season reaches the business end.
The Cop del Rey semi-final between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid should be worth watching tonight.
