Leandro Trossard: Arsenal have turned things around before | OneFootball

Leandro Trossard insists Arsenal aren’t worried about their recent form, pointing to last season for evidence that the Gunners know how to turn things around.

Arsenal certainly haven’t been in good form in recent weeks. Since the last international break, the Gunners only wins have come against lower-league Preston North End and a tight victory at home to Shakhtar Donetsk.

Other than those two results, in which Mikel Arteta’s side were heavy favourites, the team have lost to Bournemouth, Newcastle, Inter Milan, and drawn with Liverpool, only scoring in one of those four matches.

Speaking about that run of form, Leandro Trossard pointed out that it’s not the first time Arsenal have been in this situation, and they’ve turned things around before.

“There was a similar path last year,” Trossard said. “People were doubting about scoring and after January we had a spell of five or six games where we were putting five past opponents.

“Every season you have a rough period and it’s down to us to get going again. The belief in the team is still really high. We have such great players and we can turn it around quickly.

“I think we had a good game on Wednesday. We didn’t score and they scored a penalty. In general we are pushing to win games and score goals. It just needs to click and hopefully that will be on Sunday.”

It’s true that Arsenal had a similar run of form in 2023/24. From December 9th to January 7th, the team went on a five-game run in the Premier League involving three defeats, one draw, and just one win, whilst also drawing a Champions League game and losing in the FA Cup.

That run was followed by one of the best spells we’ve seen under Arteta, with 16 wins from the final 18 league games of the season.

Whether they can turn things around like that again remains to be seen, particularly against a resurgent Chelsea side on Sunday.
