Leandro Morgalla, 20-year-old right-back from Biedenkopf, Hesse, has signed with VfL Bochum, on loan from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg. The current terms of the deal are that it will run until the end of the 2025 / 26 Bundesliga season, and after that, there is an option to purchase in the transfer window next summer.

Sky's Florian Plettenberg reports that Bochum coach Dieter Hecking was very interested in having him join the Nordrhein-Westfalen club; it should be mentioned that at Salzburg, Morgalla was coached by a former head coach of Bochum, 56-year-old Thomas Letsch, who was fired after the club finished just outside the relegation zone at the end of the 2023 / 24 season.

Letsch's Salzburg finished two points away from the Austrian Bundesliga title for the second consecutive season, losing to SK Sturm Graz once again. With the main team, Morgalla played sixteen matches, assisting once, that on Yorbe Vertessen's first goal in a 2-0 victory against SK Rapid Wien on 30. March.

Morgalla is one of Germany's top under-21 defensive talents, having made four appearances with the U21 national team; unlike other top talents, he would be getting time in the 2. Bundesliga and not the main tier, as club side VfL Bochum finished at the bottom of this season's Bundesliga table with a 6-7-21 record, 25 points with a -34 goal differential (33-67).
