Lazio president Claudio Lotito is said to have played a role in Serie A’s lack of postponement of Udinese-Roma.

Following Evan Ndicka’s collapse at the 72nd minute of the match over a week ago, Roma wanted to move the match to mid-May to avoid wasting further energy in view of the first leg of the Europa League semi-finals.

The Lega Serie A instead decided to reschedule the match on the first available date, ‘hiding’ behind the regulatory dictate which requires the recovery of suspended matches within 15 days.

According to La Repubblica, a few moments before the League Council, called urgently, met to decide on the recovery of Udinese-Roma, Claudio Lotito’s diktat arrived – Lotito in recent days had expressly declared that ‘a game cannot be suspended for a yellow code’.

The president of Lazio, senator of the Republic and federal councilor, would not have the right to vote in these circumstances, but he wanted to express an opinion like his colleagues. The other councilors aligned themselves with him. As a result, Lega Serie A President Casini decided: Roma’s proposal was inadmissible and will be played again on 25 April.
