Lazio and Nicolo Rovella reportedly have an agreement in place over a new contract once the player seals a permanent transfer from Juventus.
The 22-year-old signed for the Bianconeri in January 2021 after getting his big breakthrough at Genoa, but spent another 18 months on loan at the Luigi Ferraris, followed by a loan stint at Monza. After failing to carve himself space in Turin, the midfielder signed for Lazio in the summer of 2023 on a two-year loan deal with an obligation to buy in June 2025.
After cementing himself as one of the finest deep-lying playmakers in Serie A, the Biancocelesti will be more than happy to fulfill this unconditional obligation and buy Rovella for €17 million. This price can be considered a bargain when considering the player’s current value and his importance for the club’s cause.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport (via Calciomercato), Lazio and Rovella already have an accord for the future. After triggering the buy clause, the two parties will pen a five-year contract that will include a release clause worth €50 million.
The Italy international has been reiterating his delight to play for the capital side, explaining how he swiftly became passionate about Lazio following his arrival. So even though the player doesn’t have any exit plans at the moment, the management wishes to protect itself by inserting a sizable buyout clause, just in case the situation changes in the future.
