There is another strange snub for Inter and Argentina striker Lautaro Martinez, as no Serie A players are even short-listed for the FIFPro World 11.

Lautaro Martinez was nominated for the Ballon d’Or and expected to do better than his seventh place finish, considering he won the Serie A title with Inter as Capocannoniere thanks to 24 goals.

He also starred for Argentina in the victorious Copa America over the summer and Lautaro Martinez was the top scorer in that tournament too with five goals.

Despite all of that, the 27-year-old is not even short-listed for the FIFPRO World 11 award, meaning no Serie A players are included.

Ademola Lookman, whose hat-trick helped Atalanta beat Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League Final and finished 14th in the Ballon d’Or rankings, is also left out.

The award is voted for by professional players based on a guidance list of 250 names and the ideal XI will be made up of a goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders and three forwards, plus another outfield player with the most number of votes.

The final XI will be announced on December 9.
