Barcelona went through a rather subdued summer transfer window, with only Dani Olmo being the major signing for the first team.

Pau Victor also joined permanently but despite making efforts to bring in a few more players, the club’s Financial Fair Play situation prohibited them from any further deals.

The failure to finalise the new Nike agreement as well as finding a new investor for the Barça Vision deal held the Blaugrana back.

But things are progressing in the right direction, with Barça seeing their salary limit increase by over 50% compared to January this year.

Laporta to meet Javier Tebas

Now, Jijantes FC reports that Barcelona president Joan Laporta will meet La Liga chief Javier Tebas in the coming days to discuss the club’s Financial Fair Play situation.

The Catalans wish to learn where they stand as far as a possible return to the 1:1 Fair Play rule is concerned, and as such Laporta himself will take up the matter with Tebas.

Barcelona are eager to get back to the 1:1 rule at the earliest possible. The Catalans used Andreas Christensen’s long-term injury to register Dani Olmo but it will become invalid by January.

Furthermore, the injury to Marc-Andre ter Stegen has also opened up the doors for a goalkeeping reinforcement in January.

So, it is understandable that the Blaugrana wish to return to the 1:1 rule at the earliest possible.

What has Tebas said?

Earlier this month, La Liga president Javier Tebas confirmed that Barcelona are in a much better position than they were a couple of years ago, praising their efforts to reduce the wage bill.

In fact, the La Liga chief even confirmed that there is a possibility that they will enter the January window with the 1:1 rule, saying:

“Right now Barça are close to the 1:1 rule. “I hope and wish that Barcelona can be on the 1:1 rule in January. The Nike deal is going to help them a lot. They have cut €200 million in wage bill, that’s a barbaric amount.”
