While rumors have swirled around some other, possibly pink-clad MLS club ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup, it's LAFC that has become the first to utilize a special pre-tournament transfer window for competing sides.

The Black-and-Gold on Thursday announced they've acquired Dutch-born Suriname international Javairo Dilrosun on loan from Club America through late July, with the option to make the move a permanent transfer at the end of the loan.

The move comes less than two weeks after LAFC defeated Club America in a special playoff match for the final berth in the tournament, a berth Club Leon was forced to vacate due to FIFA's prohibition of multiple clubs sharing the same ownership group. (Club Leon and CF Pachuca are both owned by Grupo Pachuca.)

Dilrosun will slide neatly into the spot left by Turkish international Cengiz Under, whose loan recently expired. Dilrosun has most often played on the left side of the midfield of late but can handle either flank or the central attacking midfield role.

The 26-year-old Dilrosun was once one of Concacaf's most intriguing prospects, valued in the range of $20 million shortly before the pandemic, according to Transfermarkt, while playing for Hertha Berlin of the German Bundesliga.

Once a major prospect

But he has yet to string consecutive solid seasons together between Hertha, a short stop at Bordeaux, two seasons at Feyenoord and then two with Club America.

His most productive campaign was probably his first with Feyenoord when he scored five goals and assisted five more while helping the Rotterdam outfit win the 2022-2023 Eredivisie title.

At Club America, 11 of his 21 Liga MX appearances across the 2024-2025 split season format were starts. He scored only once for the Mexico City outfit and registered three assists.
