Ahead of Real Madrid facing Borussia Dortmund in the 2024 final on June 1, plans are already in place for next season.

UEFA’s changes to the tournament for next season mean the format will change from the traditional group stage to a league table.

As part of the new structure, teams will take on eight different sides, with four home games and four away games.

To determine fixtures, teams will be ranked in four seeding pots and each team will then be drawn to play two opponents from each pot.

Real Madrid have secured a place in Pot 1, ahead of the league phase draw on August 29, with Barcelona sneaking into Pot 1, in front of Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.

Atletico Madrid will start in Pot 2 with tournament first timers Girona in Pot 4.

Alongside the confirmed updates from UEFA, ‘country protection’ will no longer exist, meaning teams from the same country can play each other at any point in the competition.
