It was another dramatic day in La Liga, with four action-packed matches taking place across Spain. Real Madrid travelled to Granada in their first match as champions, while Athletic Club hosted Osasuna in a Basque derby, Sevilla headed to Villarreal, and Mallorca took on Las Palmas at Son Moix.

Athletic Club 2-2 Osasuna

Athletic Club’s hopes of securing Champions League qualification are hanging by a thread, following a 2-2 draw at home to Osasuna. It was the Garcias that did the damage to the hosts, with Raul Garcia and Ruben Garcia on the scoresheet for Jagoba Arrasate’s side at San Mames. However, Los Leones did launch a second half comeback, with Inaki Williams and Asier Villalibre netting – the latter did so in stoppage time to save a point.

The result means that Atletico Madrid can go eight points ahead of Athletic in fourth place, should they defeat Celta Vigo on Sunday. Osasuna move up to 11th with this very impressive result.

Villarreal 3-2 Sevilla

An incredible match took place at the Ceramica on Saturday afternoon, with Villarreal twice coming from behind to defeat Sevilla. Youssef En-Nesyri had the visitors ahead until the 84th minute, scoring either side of an Alexander Sorloth equaliser, before Yerson Mosquera made it 2-2. The winner came in the 97th minute courtesy of Sorloth, who is now only one goal behind Artem Dovbyk in the Pichichi Trophy race.

That result moves Villarreal above Valencia and into eighth place, although Los Che can take that back on Sunday. Sevilla drop to 13th.

Mallorca 1-0 Las Palmas

Las Palmas have now lost their last eight matches in La Liga, with Mallorca picking up the three points at Son Moix courtesy of Giovanni Gonzalez. That result has all-but ensured that the Islanders will be staying in La Liga, and if Cadiz are defeated by Getafe on Sunday, their safety will be official.
