We’re at the business end of the season now, with MD36 getting underway on Thursday with three games taking place across Spain. Real Madrid hosted Alaves at the Santiago Bernabeu, with the other two matches seeing Girona take on Villarreal, and Mallorca travelling to face Osasuna.

Girona’s hopes of finishing second are now hanging by a thread, following another disappointing result. They lost 1-0 at home to 10-man Villarreal, with Bertrand Traore’s first goal for the Yellow Submarine being the decisive moment – they had Kiko Femenia sent off late on. The result keeps Marcelino Garcia Toral’s side in with a shout of securing a European place for next season.

Osasuna 1-1 Mallorca

The early kick-off ended in a stalemate at El Sadar, which sees Mallorca take another step towards securing their place in La Liga for the 2024-25 campaign. They fell behind in the first half courtesy of Jon Moncayola’s goal for Osasuna, but Sergi Darder ensured a share of the spoils in Pamplona.
