Outgoing Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappé (25) has caused a stir by avoiding mention of club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi from his goodbye message, a slight that may point to their broken relationship.

According to Le Parisien, the relationship between PSG’s record goalscorer and the long-serving president has been broken for a number of months since the Frenchman announced his departure internally on February 13. Al-Khelaifi, wanting to organise a more substantial send-off for the wantaway forward, became increasingly agitated at the lack of public declaration from Mbappé, making it impossible for an event to be organised and souring the relationship between the pair.

After building a sporting project around Mbappé and selling other stars to cement his status as the main man at the club, Al-Khelaifi is said to see the player as ungrateful for his efforts to make him the face of the new PSG. A separation could yet be the best outcome for both parties.
