Tommy St. Jago has signed for KV Mechelen after leaving Tilburg with Willem II’s relegation to the Keuken Kampioen Divisie.
The 25-year-old defender has signed in Belgium with KV Mechelen, where Tom Caluwé is an old acquaintance as technical director. St. Jago had an expiring contract with Willem II, who initially signed him two years ago on a free from FC Utrecht.
“I know Tommy from Willem II”, Tom Caluwé explained on the club website. “I am convinced that he will also fit in very well with Malinwa. With his arrival, we strengthen our defence with a player who is both physically and mentally strong. We have been convinced of his qualities for a long time and are happy that we can now welcome him permanently.”
“I immediately had a good feeling when I walked in here”, St. Jago said to club media. “Of course, it helps that Tom is here. A familiar face makes everything go a bit easier. I notice that Mechelen is a club with charisma, has a nice following and clearly shows ambition.”
