It is well-known beyond any shadow of a doubt that FC Barcelona houses some of Europe’s best talents within their ranks. While their financial resources may continue to be a frustrating topic for the Catalan club, they have another strength with their youth. In a way, Barcelona possess an almost enviable array of young talents at their disposal.

Naturally, such footballing qualities invite the attention of other clubs looking to take a piece. Unfortunately for them, very rarely does Barcelona let go of their most prized and stand-out players who rise from their youth ranks every now and then.

However, it is perhaps even more impossible to consider the possibility of letting go of Lamine Yamal. While judging by his age, which is 17, those who do not know of him would be easy to forgive if they did not understand just how special the young Barcelona winger is.

Yet, it can now be said without a doubt that he is one of the most expensive players in the world, and for good reason. Having now properly announced himself to the world, especially with his record-breaking European Championship triumph with Spain, he has become a major name within the European market.

As a result, many clubs began to be linked to the young Spanish winger. However, there were some big reports suggesting that French side Paris Saint-Germain were more keen than others to make a move for the €120m-rated Barcelona forward by submitting a massive proposal for him.

However, as pointed out by SPORT, PSG’s Sporting director Luis Campos was recently interviewed. While he was mainly asked about the inner workings of PSG and their progress in various aspects, he was also asked to provide his own opinion on Lamine Yamal, to which he confirmed that he did take special notice of the youngster:

“It’s clear that I like Lamine Yamal, but there are also other players with great quality. You can’t say Yamal isn’t an excellent footballer. Watching him perform at the level he is is incredible.”

However, he simultaneously did try to play down the rumors that suggested that PSG may have gone all-out for the Barça prodigy and the director instead chose to reaffirm his confidence in the squad that the Parisian club already has:

“We must acknowledge that if we had signed every player linked with PSG in the press, we would have an incredible roster of stars. The truth is we are very happy with the squad we have.”

Either way, it must be remembered that Barcelona have thus far shown no signs of even wanting to offload the young player. His goal remains to succeed at Barcelona and the club is just as onboard with that idea. Ultimately, it remains meaningless what PSG wants or does not want to do with him.
