Sunday’s Derby d’Italia will be only the sixth time that Juventus and Inter Milan meet with a gap of ten points or more favouring the latter in the Serie A table.

This is highlighted by Italian outlet FCInterNews. they highlight the historically very rare respective positions in the table of the two bitter rivals.

On Sunday evening, Juventus host Inter Milan in the second Derby d’Italia of the season.

The Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri have already met once this season. That match was one of the most memorable the fixture has produced in recent years, ending in a 4-4 draw.

The Derby d’Italia is always one of the showpiece occasions of Italian football. It pits the two most successful teams in Serie A history. And two sides with no shortage of animus over the years.

As that stat would suggest, the Bianconeri have had the better of the fixture over the years.

However, in recent years, it has been Inter who have been in the stronger position in the league table.

And that is certainly the case this season.

Inter are on 54 points in the Serie A table. Juventus, meanwhile, are on 43.

That is a gap of eleven points between the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri in the table.

And as FCIN highlight, there have only been five previous occasions in which a gap of ten or more points favoured Inter in the table going into a Serie A match against Juventus.
