Mikey Moore signs for Rangers and is confirmed as our latest new signing, with the 17-year-old putting pen to paper on a season-long loan. Ibrox Noise do not traditionally support loans, such are their low success rate, but we endorse this one.
We weren’t keen on Max Aarons, but we did accept Nasser Djiga, and Moore falls under the latter category.
So what do we have here in this teenage prodigy as Mikey Moore signs for Rangers?
Well this is an occasion where a coveted kid has actually come north unlike previous attempts on Foden and Winks. Lionel Messi was infamously another example.
Is he a starter? He will be heavily involved, yes – rated at around £20M he isn’t here to be a benchwarmer.
He has a goal and an assist in five Europa League outings, one assist in 12 in the Premier League for Spurs, and in overall career stats boasts 39 goals and assists in 55 outings.
But it’s more than just the numbers. Moore’s versatility makes him a tactical dream. He can operate wide left, as a 10, or even through the middle. That range gives Russell Martin a dangerous option that keeps defenders guessing and brings genuine unpredictability to Rangers’ attack.
There’s something fearless about the boy too. He made his Spurs debut aged 16 and became the youngest ever English goalscorer in Europe – not bad for a kid who still can’t buy a pint. His dribbling is tight, his vision’s sharp, and the arrogance to drive into space is what sets him apart.
He’s got a lot to him, and Rangers have pulled off a coup getting this lad here. Even if he claimed his whole family are Rangers fans – we’re not sure we believe that.
Either way, Rangers have a top young talent for one season, with scope for longer depending on circumstances.
Tottenham wanted him to extend before loaning him. That tells you all you need to know about their belief in his potential. This isn’t a punt. It’s a strategic placement to season one of their future stars in a demanding, passionate environment.
He is one to watch as Mikey Moore signs for Rangers. And if he delivers what we think he can under the lights at Ibrox, it might not just be for one season.
