Chelsea scored four last night, and two of those goals were accompanied by celebrations where players m
One came from Pedro Neto, the other from Levi Colwill. Tim Sherwood, who was working as a pundit for Premier League Productions, took issue with the celebrations
“I like Neto but I don’t know what the celebration was all about. A few of the Chelsea players did that,” Sherwood pointed out in quotes picked up by the Daily Mail.
“It feels like they’re listening to the noise but they’ve just got to blank out the noise and win. People are obviously going to have things to say, you’re playing for Chelsea Football Club. It’s a team that normally wins and you’ve spent a few billion pound so people expect you to be at the top of the League. Just get on with it.”
We couldn’t agree more. The criticism was well deserved, you don’t get to throw it back in the faces of the critics when you beat Southampton at home. It’s also quite ironic to respond to outside noise by doing an “I don’t care about the outside noise” celebration.
There was also some confusion, with some supporters thinking these “stop the negative talk” celebrations were being aimed at them, given there was an anti-ownership protest pregame, and some jeers from the crowd aimed at the slow passive play at times before the Blues opened the scoring. We think it was more towards the media, although you never know.

Sherwood was very positive about Neto, aside from the celebration, and was singing the winger’s praises in the rest of his punditry:
“He’s very direct. I think he’s had a decent season, I really do. Recently he’s been stepping up. I think he’s a real threat, he could play for most teams, I really think he’s a talent.”
