According to a report from Le Parisien journalist Marc Mechenoua former Strasbourg and Rennes manager Julien Stéphan has agreed a two-year deal to take charge over EFL Championship side Queens Park Rangers. The London club are actively searching for a new head coach after parting ways with Spaniard Martí Cifuentes at the end of the season. Cifuentes was dismissed after holding talks with other English clubs without informing QPR’s hierarchy. The Hoops finished 15th in the second tier, where they currently count Jonathan Varane—the younger half-brother of Raphaël Varane—among their ranks.
Out of work since leaving Rennes early last season, Stéphan was reportedly open to the idea of coaching abroad and wasparticularly attracted by the opportunity to work in England, as reported by Foot Mercato. The 44-year-old, best known for leading Rennes to their 2019 Coupe de France title, changed representatives earlier this spring in a bid to relaunch his career.GFFN | George Boxall
