There was understandable optimism around West Ham this summer, with new manager Julen Lopetegui adding his stamp on the squad with a host of eye-catching signings.
But the football played by Lopetegui’s side has so far not lived up to that pre-season promise, with just four points on the board heading into Saturday’s London derby.
And it seems things are going to get worse before they get better from the Spaniard’s side, with Nicolas Jackson’s brace and Cole Palmer’s goal just after half-time putting the result effectively out of reach.
Barring a minor miracle, it will be the first time in Premier League history that the Hammers have lost their opening three home matches of the season, following their previous defeats to Aston Villa and Manchester City.
Lopetegui has his work cut out for him, while things are going very well indeed for new Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca.
