Jude Bellingham sends public message to Kroos – ‘One year was not enough’ | OneFootball

It has been quite an emotional afternoon at Real Madrid as club legend Toni Kroos announced his decision to retire from football this summer.

The 34-year-old has two more games left in Los Blancos’ colours before he will play for Germany at the Euro 2024 in his homeland, following which he will call it time on his career.

All of Kroos’ present Real Madrid teammates and some former ones have been sending heartfelt messages on social media following the announcement.

Bellingham pays tribute

Now, one of Real Madrid’s last summer signings, Jude Bellingham, has taken to social media, to pay an ode to Kroos, stating that spending just one year as his teammate does not feel enough.

“One year was not enough. Thank you for everything you have given to the game, it’s been an absolute pleasure to enjoy your football and personality as a fan and even more so as a teammate,” wrote Bellingham.

At the same time, the 20-year-old Englishman reminded Kroos that the job was not done this season, with the UEFA Champions League final still remaining, before wishing him the best for the future.

“Still some more work to do this season but wish you all the best for whatever is next for you and your family. LEGEND!”

Change in role for Bellingham

With Kroos set to hang up his boots, Carlo Ancelotti is likely to have a change of roles in mind for Bellingham for next season.

The England international has largely featured as the attacking midfielder in a diamond formation in his debut season at Real Madrid.

But with Kroos moving on at the end of the season, Bellingham could be asked to move into a slightly deeper role in the centre of the park next campaign.

It would open up space for players like Arda Guler and Brahim Diaz to feature in the attacking midfield role.
