A very excellent summing up of where we are at now, with the saga of Newcastle United, Alexander Isak and Liverpool.

The summer 2025 transfer window opened 84 days ago.

Newcastle United are still yet to receive a credible bid for Alexander Isak.

Only a laughably derisory one made by Liverpool some weeks ago of £110m.

Alexander Isak still hasn’t put in a written transfer request to try and help make a move happen.

By putting in such a request he would be giving up a large chunk of ‘loyalty’ money if a transfer then did happen. Which quite obviously he isn’t prepared to do.

In only seven days time at 7pm on Monday 1 September the Premier League transfer window closes.

This is the reality now explained on Alexander Isak for the benefit of Liverpool fans and everybody else…

Luke Edwards of The Telegraph on what the position is now for Newcastle United with Alexander Isak – Sunday 24 August 2025:

“Newcastle’s owners set out their position at the start of the summer.

“And I will stress again, the owners came up with this plan.

“The asking price for Alexander Isak was set at such a high level, we are talking in excess of £150m, that it was designed to send the message he wasn’t for sale.

“This may sound contradictory, but this is PIF’s view. We don’t need to sell, we don’t have to sell and we will not sell.

“Unless someone pays ridiculous money well above market value. It has not changed for months.

“If they alter that stance now it will have made everything up to this point a charade.

“They will have buckled.

“I have been told that will not happen since March this year.

“Again in May and again in June and July.

“It is still the owner’s position on August 24th.

“Had they signed Ekitike or Sesko I think it might have changed but they didn’t.

“Howe has repeatedly said for more than a week they are trying to sign one striker now. A replacement for Callum Wilson.”

As I said, this above is a massive reality check, a reminder of what the situation really is.

A move for Alexander Isak in what remains of this transfer window now looks all but impossible.

Instead, Newcastle United now just looking for a replacement to fill Callum Wilson’s shirt.

When Alexander Isak is reintegrated into the Newcastle United team to play another season, it won’t be easy. However, it is anything but impossible.

Newcastle United need him to still be their first choice striker.

Alexander Isak needs to train regularly with the rest of a club squad and play regular football this 2025/26 season, or else his career is in a total mess and surely all but impossible for him to be able to play an effective part when the 2026 World Cup finals come around, if/when Sweden qualify.

The Newcastle United owners absolutely aren’t going to allow a sale of Alexander Isak to happen.
