Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is reportedly engaged in contract negotiations with the club despite all exit talk.
The 19-year-old emerged on the scene last season, becoming a favourite at Erik ten Hag’s court and an instant hit with the supporters, especially following his heroics in the FA Cup final against Manchester City.
Therefore, the teenager was dubbed the next big thing to emerge from the club’s academy, with many envisioning a long and prosperous campaign at Old Trafford.
However, the England international has had a rough transition to the new era under Ruben Amorim, who has been testing him in several positions, to various degrees of success. Moreover, his recurring physical problems this season haven’t helped his case.
Nevertheless, the most glaring issue remains his complicated contract renewal talks, with the two parties struggling to bridge the gap between them. Therefore, there have been growing rumours linking Mainoo with the exit door, with Chelsea suggested as a possible destination.

But according to Man United insider Sully, the player is determined to stay at Carrington, as the talks between his entourage and the club are ongoing.
“Lots of guesswork and bs from the media on the Mainoo situation for what I presume clicks and interactions. Nothing has been officially completed as of now, they are in active negotiations,” revealed the journalist on his X account.
“Kobbie wants to stay, this I know for a fact. The agent will try and push for a higher deal which is normal in a contract negotiation. Of course, the possibility of Kobbie leaving is there but just beware of the nonsense in the media right now”
Mainoo made 18 appearances in the Premier League this season, but has yet to make a direct goal contribution. He’s currently nursing a muscle injury he suffered in February, but he’s expected to resume action sooner action soon enough since he has already resumed grass training.
