Theo Hernandez’s renewal has been a hot topic for several months now but it seems AC Milan are getting closer to an agreement. According to a report, the parties have agreed on the figures for the new contract.
Being one of the stars in the team, the future of Hernandez has naturally been in the spotlight. The poor start to this season, both from Milan and the player, hasn’t made things better but at least there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel now.
For several weeks, it has been reported that the left-back only wants to remain and according to Carlos Passerini of Corriere della Sera (via Il Garante), an agreement is very close. The renewal should be until 2029, i.e. a four-year extension, with a salary of around €6m per season.
Taking a look at Milan’s current wage bill, Hernandez earns €4.5m per season and Rafael Leao is at €5m per season. However, it should be noted that the latter’s contract includes bonuses which could take the final figure up to €7m per season, so €6m is probably fair for a player like Hernandez.
The arrival of Sergio Conceicao has seemingly revitalised both Hernandez and Leao, which obviously plays in Milan’s favour in the renewal talks.
