Former Chelsea coach Jody Morris has now named the Blues player who he believes has been the most consistent performer all season so far.
Morris, who was also a player at Chelsea, was the U18s coach and then moved into an assistant head coach role under Frank Lampard’s first spell as head coach at the club.
He often posts on X when Chelsea are playing, just like any other Chelsea fan, showing that he is also just a fan like all of us right now.
Morris was watching on last night as Chelsea failed to beat Manchester United and could only manage a 1-1 draw. I say failed to beat because United were there for the taking, they were tragically awful, and Chelsea missed an opportunity to take all three points at Old Trafford, something they have not done in well over 10 years now.
Morris would have been as frustrated as all of us were watching the game, but he did highlight the one main positive in Blue on the night and throughout the season so far.
Caicedo was colossal last night
Midfielder Moises Caicedo has gone from strength to strength in Chelsea blue this season after a bit of a slow start last season, and Morris has noticed it.
He posted on his X account last night:
‘Caicedo best player on pitch and for me our most consistent performer all season.’
You have to agree with him as well. Cole Palmer of course has also been very good this season, but even he has not quite been as consistently incredible as Caicedo has been. I’ve watched the latter drop 8/10 performances every single game whether Chelsea have won or not – that’s incredible.
Morris was a midfielder himself in his playing days, so will surely appreciate the overall masterclass Caicedo puts on every game.
