We are a little more than 24 hours away from Barcelona’s big match against Real Madrid in the final of the Super Cup.

The Catalans will be aiming for their first title under the leadership of new coach Hansi Flick, who had already guided this team to a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Los Blancos in the first half of the campaign.

Nevertheless, as Barcelona prepare for this crucial encounter, the club’s president Joan Laporta could be set for an all-important meeting.

Laporta to meet Perez tonight

As reported by Rodra P, Laporta is set to meet Real Madrid president Florentino Perez in Jeddah tonight, just a day ahead of the final.

Although this may only be a customary meeting between the leaders of the two respective clubs, there could be important things that get discussed.

By far the hottest talking point in Spanish right now is Barcelona receiving a positive verdict from the Higher Sports Council (CSD), which issued a precautionary measure for Dani Olmo and Pau Victor earlier this week.

CSD’s verdict allowed Barcelona to register the two summer signings, but the move did not go well with a host of La Liga clubs.

These clubs consider CSD’s verdict an injustice to all the other clubs participating in the Spanish top flight.

However, Real Madrid have remained silent on the matter and is yet to issue a statement that the likes of Atletico Madrid and Las Palmas have already put out.

Real Madrid’s silent treatment has been construed as a form of support for Barcelona.

Although these two clubs are fierce rivals, they are ideologically aligned on many factors, including the European Super League.

Tonight’s meeting, therefore, could likely see Laporta and Perez discuss the road ahead for ESL, as well as the upcoming Super Cup final.
