FLW takes a look at two suggestive signings the Rams should look to make

Derby County face a very important final week of the transfer window as they seek to strengthen their squad before the deadline at 7pm on September 1st.

John Eustace's side have already made some big moves this summer, bringing in 10 new signings, but even he's admitted that he'd "love to bring in another two or three players."

The Rams are still yet to replace Corey Blackett-Taylor, who was sidelined for six weeks following his hamstring injury on opening day.

With this in mind, Football League World takes a look at two suggestive signings the club should look to make before the window closes.

Although not included in this list, Lewis Travis was officially stripped of his Blackburn Rovers captaincy on Friday - which comes after the midfielder asked to leave the Lancashire club to join Derby, a move he is now edging closer to completing.

1 Max Johnston - Sturm Graz

Derby have already shown their commitment in trying to land Max Johnston by submitting three bids to Sturm Graz for the Scottish right-back.

As per Sky Sports News' Anthony Joseph, their latest offer reportedly reaches £2m plus add-ons.

One of Derby's options at right-back, Kane Wilson, was seen joining in with the Rams open training session at Pride Park on the 18th, yet that was his first "since the end of last season" according to Dominic Dietrich.

Since moving from Motherwell in 2023, Johnston has helped Sturm Graz win back-to-back Austrian Bundesliga titles whilst making over 60 first-team appearances.

Having made his senior international debut in March during a Nations League win over Greece, the 21-year-old has already shown he can handle big moments.

Johnston's contract at Graz runs until 2027 - so they won't really be in a rush to let him go - and the East Midlands outfit reportedly face competition from Serie A side Bolognia for his signature.

The Rams are set to miss out on Koki Saito to QPR, who have matched the Rams' bid according to Mike McGrath.

Please bear in mind this is a suggestion, but Jeremy Sarmiento emerges as one alternative to address the shortage of wingers at the club. In an ideal world though, Derby should be looking to bring a few in.

Sarmiento helped Ipswich Town reach the Premier League during the second half of the 23/24 season and scored three goals in 20 appearances.

This was before he contributed four goals in 35 league games at Burnley as they secured promotion last season - so his pedigree at this level is undeniably better than anything Derby currently have.

According to Carlos Corberan during Sarmiento's time at West Bromwich Albion, he "can play on either wing, as well as through the middle as a 10."

This would obviously give Eustace options in positions he lacks, especially given that Kayden Jackson is the only recognised winger at Pride Park following Blackett-Taylor's injury.

Brighton are actively seeking to move Sarmiento on permanently, as per The Athletic, who suggest the Ecuador international wants to remain in Europe rather than moving to South America.

Seeing that Saito is going to re-join the R's, any money tabled for him should really be offered to Brighton for Sarmiento if Eustace is serious about getting wingers in before the end of the window.
