New sporting director Richard Hughes has a huge decision to make over the future of Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian international as well as Trent Alexander Arnold and Virgil van Dijk have all entered the final years of their contracts and the trio could leave Anfield next summer as free agents if no new deals are agreed.

Salah has answered his critics in style, scoring in all three of Liverpool's opening Premier League fixtures, including the 3-0 win over Manchester United.

Following the win at Old Trafford, the 32-year-old dropped a bombshell in his post-match interview, stating it could be the last time he plays at the alleged Theatre of Dreams.

Jeff Stelling sends Liverpool chiefs a warning

Speaking on talkSPORT, Jeff Stelling warned Liverpool chiefs that they are making a mistake if they let Salah leave next summer.

“I don’t think you can let him leave your club. I think if they are looking in a different direction they are looking in the wrong direction,” Stelling said.

“Because Mo is the ultimate professional, he never lets you down. He turns up in the big games – just look at his record against Manchester United home and away.

“Ridiculous is exactly the word. He is ridiculously good and if they can afford to let him go, or sell him, I’d love to know who they can replace him with.”

Already this season, Salah has shown how invaluable he is to Arne Slot's side, racking up six goal contributions in the first three games.

He is impossible to replace. The Reds have signed Federico Chiesa on a long-term deal to replace the winger in the future, but his recent performances have emphasised why Liverpool need to keep him.

Salah looks to be in the best shape of his career. Surely, Hughes should tie him down on a new long-term contract.
