All thoughts will now be focused firmly on Hampden for Sunday’s Scottish Cup semi final clash with St Johnstone as we aim to take a giant step closer to a record breaking ninth treble.

Rodgers will have plenty to ponder watching the players in training

Brendan Rodgers will of course have to select the side he feels will give us the best chance to book our place in next month’s final, and with certain players blowing hot and cold in terms of form at the moment, he will have plenty to ponder on that front this week as he watches the players in training,

One man who will have a great chance of starting is James Forrest. Fresh from a decent sixty plus minute workout in the 5-1 route of Kilmarnock, the veteran winger is a man for the big stage especially when it comes to making his mark at the National stadium.

James Forrest always enjoys the wide spaces at Hampden

James Forrest has had a great affinity with the home of Scottish football in the past winning multiple honours and of course scored a great goal against Aberdeen at Hampden at the same stage of the competition last season. He’s also scored against the Dons at the semi final stage in 2019 in a 3-0 win on route to the treble treble, as well as scoring in the League Cup final wins of 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Even in the dark blue of Scotland James has made his mark at Hampden, scoring a hat trick for his country against Israel back in 2018.

And he’s scored a winner against St Johnstone in a semi-final already

He also happened to score the winner against Sunday’s opponents St Johnstone when both sides met in the League Cup semi final back in 2021 at the national stadium. James is also looking to keep up his amazing record of scoring in every campaign since his first team debut in 2010, so who better to call upon come Sunday?

Jamesy is our man for a Hampden high this Easter Sunday!
