La Fábrica has a killer for a while. Jaime Barroso is no longer an unknown in the Real Madrid youth academy. The 17-year-old center forward currently plays for the second reserve team, coached by Joselu Sánchez. And so far, his promotion to the ‘C’ team has been a success. In the first two preseason games, the Hortaleza native scored twice, against Leganés B and Gimnástica Segoviana. Arbeloa is keeping a close eye on him, and if he continues to impress, it’s not out of the question that we’ll see him with Castilla this season. He will also be registered in the Youth League with the Juvenil A team. In September, he will come of age and will sit down with the club once again to secure his contract. He has a €50 million release clause.

Jaime Barroso is a pure center forward. A modern-day pivot who can do it all. Tall, powerful, fast. His physical strength is not that of a 17-year-old. He is a real nightmare for defenses. With his back to goal, he is lethal. He is a natural killer with a great nose for goal. And he is left-footed. Inside the box, if Jaime gets the ball, the opposition’s goal is going to shake. That’s for sure. Just look at his last two goals for Real Madrid C. The first came in the preseason opener against Leganés’ reserve team. Barroso made no mistake from a pass by Joan Mascaró. He received the ball and punished the opposition with his right foot, his weaker foot.

Against Gimnástica Segoviana, another goal from the hunter. On a long goal kick from Ferran Quetglas, Jaime brings it down, connects with Carlos Díez, who opens up for Liberto Navascués. The latter passes to Aimar Santiago, who crosses to the penalty spot. Barroso is there. The striker gets a shot off, but the Segovian goalkeeper thwarts the attempt. However, he leaves the rebound. He forgave the first time, but not the second. Another strike from the Hortaleza native. With his left foot.

Jaime Barroso, Arbeloa’s top scorer

Arbeloa watches him out of the corner of his eye. He knows him very well. Last season, Jaime was the top scorer for the current Real Madrid Castilla coach in the Juvenil A league. In the first nine league games, Barroso found the net eleven times. Those great performances opened the doors to Real Madrid C. With Madrid’s second reserve team, the Madrid-born player played about eight games (starting four of them), scored once (against Móstoles) and provided one assist. He finished the season with 16 goals in the División de Honor (one goal every 93 minutes) and won the league title. He then scored two goals in the Youth Champions Cup. In total, the striker scored 19 goals in 40 games played during the 2024-25 season.

A Madridista since birth

The passion for Real Madrid runs through the veins of the Barroso family. In 2016, at just eight years old, he made an 11-hour car journey to Milan to watch the Champions League final against Atlético Madrid live. That day marked a turning point in his love for Real Madrid. Jaime didn’t sleep a wink.

He watched all of Real Madrid’s finals on his tablet on a constant loop during the journey. After the Whites’ victory and the conquest of the Eleventh European Cup, the return trip became a new endless analysis of the match, commenting on every detail over and over again. Jaime joined Real Madrid in 2022, after making a splash in the youth teams of Rayo Vallecano and Sporting Hortaleza.

As soon as he set foot in Valdebebas, his name was already echoing through the corridors of the Ciudad Deportiva. In his first season, he scored 35 goals between Cadete A and Juvenil B. Subsequently, in 2023-24, he alternated between Juvenil C and B, until he was promoted to Arbeloa’s Juvenil A.

In 15 games and just over 600 minutes under the tutelage of the former full-back, he scored three goals. He caught the attention of the Spanish national team’s youth ranks, gaining international experience at U-16, U-17, and U-18 level. In addition to soccer, Jaime is equally dedicated to his studies.

He finished high school, passed his university entrance exams, and hopes to study economics at university. Jaime has his feet firmly on the ground. He still has a long way to go. Like every kid at La Fábrica, Barroso dreams of stepping onto the pitch at the Santiago Bernabéu. But with hard work and sacrifice, something he knows very well, he will get there. Remember his name: Jaime Barroso.
