Harrison Burrows has been attracting interest from clubs in the Championship.

Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson has confirmed that Harrison Burrows is likely to depart London Road this summer, despite Preston North End having a bid turned down for his services last week.

Burrows has been attracting interest from several Championship clubs after a successful season in which he helped Peterborough reach the play-offs and win the EFL Trophy, as well as being named the Posh's supporters' Player of the Year and the League One Player of the Season.

Preston North End had a bid rejected in the last week, as per Alan Nixon's Patreon account, and they are unlikely to head back in with a second offer, whilst it is Sheffield United who have been linked the strongest to the left-back, with the Peterborough Telegraph claiming that the 22-year-old has agreed personal terms and passed a medical at Bramall Lane already.

With the Blades are currently embroiled in a takeover issue though, a deal going through doesn't look to be very imminent, but Peterborough boss Ferguson has still shared his doubts over whether Burrows will still be at the club by the end of the transfer window.

"The reality is clubs like ours will lose players if we don’t get promoted,” Ferguson told Peterborough's in-house media team - as per the Sheffield Star.

“I expected to lose Ronnie (Edwards) and there has been a lot of interest in Harrison. I doubt he will still be here. If he is then that’s great, but it’s not likely.

“We worked hard to keep Josh Knight, but the chance of playing in Germany was too good to turn down and we wish him all the best. We won’t lose any more unless I want to sell them. We always have plans in place to replace players who might leave.

"We are an attractive club for young players. Some clubs will sign them and stick them in the under-23s, but we play them in the first-team if they are good enough. Their age really doesn’t matter.”

Sheffield United takeover will need to move quick to seal Harrison Burrows transfer

It is no surprise to see that Burrows is attracting plenty of transfer interest this summer, after his outstanding performances last season were key for Peterborough.

It is not always common for a left-back to stand out on such a consistent basis, but Burrows regularly stepped up for the Posh, contributing an impressive six goals and 15 assists in League One over the course of the season.

Sheffield United take action to beat Portsmouth, Watford to ex-Newcastle United player

Sheffield United have made an offer to Matt Ritchie this summer, with Portsmouth and Watford keen on the former Newcastle United player.

Amid their interest in Burrows, a report from The Sun over the weekend has revealed that unnamed EFL clubs have accused Sheffield United of breaking transfer rules amid their current takeover position, which could also have an impact on whether they can complete the deal in the near future.

That is surely a sign more than anything that all parties - including current owner Prince Abdullah - need to come around the table to get a takeover sorted as it is seemingly affecting Chris Wilder's transfer plans.

United look to be restricted to free agents for now, which narrows the transfer pool down significantly, and with Burrows very much in-demand across the EFL, the takeover being concluded in the very near future is in the best interests of many parties, including Peterborough and the left-back themselves so that they can make some money.
