Hiroki Ito has yet to make his first appearance for Bayern Munich since joining from Stuttgart in the summer transfer window.
The centre-back suffered an injury in pre-season which is still causing him problems.
As Bayern Munich announced on Tuesday, Ito has undergone further surgery on his metatarsal.
“We need to have a bit of patience with Hiroki Ito now. It's a blow for him and for us, but he'll come back strong and find his form,” said Bayern coach Vincent Kompany at a press conference on Tuesday.
On the bright side for Bayern, Sacha Boey, who has been out since September due to a meniscus tear, returned to team training on Monday.
“Sacha Boey is doing well. We didn't expect him to be back in training yet. Perhaps we'll get a player back after the international break,” said Kompany.
