Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi is ready to take advantage of the chance to start against Como on Monday.
This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Ever since he joined Inter in 2023, discussions of Frattesi have centred around his playing time. Or lack thereof.
Inter spent a big fee to sign Frattesi from Sassuolo.
However, it was clear last season that the Italian international was not a regular starter in the eyes of Simone Inzaghi.
Frattesi made a total of six starts in Serie A as Inter won the Serie A title.
This season, though, Frattesi has already started five league matches. And it is less than halfway through the campaign.
Frattesi is also set to get his sixth start of the season on Monday.
The 25-year-old will fill in for injured teammate Nicolo Barella.
Barella is out with a thigh injury. This is his second spell on the sidelines.
And the last time that Barella was out, Frattesi impressed as his understudy.
Frattesi got the chance to prove his worth in the Inter starting eleven in a run of matches in October.
It will be a similar situation tomorrow, even if Barella is likely to be back sooner.
Frattesi is not going to suddenly displace a player of Barella’s stature from the first-choice starting eleven.
However, with each opportunity, the former Sassuolo midfielder grows into the team.
