Andrea Abodi has delivered a significant update on the ongoing San Siro saga amid AC Milan and Inter’s bid to build a new stadium in the area.
In his recent interview during the ‘Italia Direzione Nord’ event held at the Triennale di Milano via FCInterNews, Abodi reflected on the stadium’s current state.
However, negotiations with local authorities have been anything but smooth thus far.
Abodi emphasized the importance of balancing tradition and innovation.
Indeed, he highlights the significance of respecting Milan’s footballing heritage while advancing modern infrastructure.
He also hinted at progress, acknowledging that after years of stagnation, there are finally concrete steps.
“I believe that San Siro stadium has characteristics that deserve respect,” Abodi admitted.
“But Milan also deserves respect from the perspective of new exploratory infrastructure.
“It is fair to say that something is finally moving after years of waiting, and the situation is evolving in a concrete way.
“I believe there is a collective willingness to contribute, not just to Milan; we need accessible, functional, and technologically advanced stadiums.
“We still have issues to resolve and choose a necessary option.
Milan will host the 2026 Winter Olympics, hence the necessity to bring the outdated venues up to standards.
“Although time is not on our side, we are collaborating with a spirit that will allow us to honor our commitments and present ourselves to the world in the right way,” Abodi continued.
“There are only 440 days left to complete everything.
“But we aim to prepare for a memorable edition of the Games, which includes completing the necessary infrastructure.
“The Olympics will leave an environmental legacy worthy of the aspirations we all share.”
