Italian journalist Riccardo Trevisani has warned Serie A of Inter Milan’s overall strength even without Lautaro Martinez’s contribution.

Speaking on the Trevi Fountain via FCInterNews, Trevisani admitted Inter’s 6-0 rout of Lazio was awe-inspiring.

“What happened in the first half hour and then in the following hour doesn’t make sense,” he stated.

“A negative episode lifted one team and killed the other.

“And it was a brutal defeat because if they had lost 2-0 or 3-0, it would’ve been more in line with expectations.

“But 6-0 is bad because it gives everything else a different flavor.”

Inter showed no mercy to their in-form opponents.

Even at 4-0 early in the second half, Simone Inzaghi’s side refused to take their feet off the gas.

Last night’s win was the latest testament to Inter’s tremendous strength in depth.

Indeed, they refused to let Martinez’s scoring drought faze them.

Instead, wingbacks stepped up to the plate.

Federico Dimarco, Carlos Augusto, and Denzel Dumfries were the architects of Lazio’s scourge at the Stadio Olimpico.

However, they had help from Hakan Calhanoglu, Nicolo Barella, and Marcus Thuram.

Riccardo Trevisani Delivers Verdict on Inter Milan Stunning Win vs Lazio

“If Inter scores six goals against Lazio with Lautaro involved in two of them, they are capable of fighting for the title and being in the Champions League race,” Trevisani said.

“And Lautaro still hasn’t got on the score sheet, which is good news.

“I don’t think he will play in 2025 like he did in 2024.

“He had a great 2023 with Inter, not so much with Argentina, but in 2024 he did better with Argentina than with Inter.

“I think he will repeat that in 2025 with Inter.

“Against Lazio, Lautaro was useful in the build-up, but not in finishing, and Thuram hadn’t played well until the goal.

“With an attack rated at 6-6.5, being generous, if Inter wins 6-0, I would be worried if I were the others because this team has so many resources.

“Of course, the Inter we know is the one with these resources—the one we can name off the top of our heads.

“The only two positions where there’s a good balance are Pavard-Bisseck and Acerbi-De Vrij. But as with any team, there are starters and substitutes.

“The team against Lazio was the first-choice team, while the one against Leverkusen was with the reserves.”

Meanwhile, Trevisani also discussed Davide Frattesi’s status at Giuseppe Meazza.

“Where can he play?” he wondered. “Where do you fit him in? There is an Inter that is much more secure with the starting midfield.

“Frattesi will be useful and will play.

“But, so far Inzaghi has managed it in a certain way, prioritizing the league and trying to rotate players in the Champions League.

“If he manages to reach the end of January with the last two Champions League games still in the hunt for the Scudetto and the top eight in the Cup, he will have done a masterpiece.”
