AC Milan like Romelu Lukaku but are yet to make an offer for the striker as they need to convince him to reduce his salary according to reports.

The Blues are desperate to offload the 31-year-old this summer, and his return to Stamford Bridge in 2021 for just under £100m has been nothing short of a disaster for the club.

Despite a bright start things deteriorated very quickly and the Belgium international has spent the last two seasons on loan at Inter Milan and Roma.

AC Milan like Lukaku

Before Lukaku joined Roma on loan last summer the Blues inserted a £38m exit clause into his contract, which they expect potential suitors to pay in full.

According to reports Chelsea aren’t open to loaning the Belgian out and are seeking a permanent sale with Lukaku attracting interest from Napoli, AC Milan and the Saudi Pro League.

Chelsea want to sell Lukaku on a permanent basis this summer.

A move to Napoli and a reunion with Antonio Conte would in theory make the most sense, but that depends on Victor Osimhen leaving the club, and as of yet there haven’t been any offers for the Nigerian, who is believed to have a release clause of around €120m.

AC Milan are in the market for strikers this summer following the departure of Olivier Giroud and have been strongly linked with Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee, whilst they are also believed to have interest in Armando Broja.

Italian outlet DiMarzio report that AC Milan do like Lukaku, but they are yet to make an offer as they need to convince the striker to reduce his salary demands, and get the Blues to meet their demands for a deal.

Chelsea must get the full £38m exit clause, with the best chance of receiving that coming from the Saudi Pro League, and Lukaku has recently revealed he would be open to a move to Saudi Arabia.

With Belgium now out of Euro 2024, Lukaku can focus on his future and make a decision on the next step in his career.
