Arriving at Marseille Marganne airport, France international midfielder Adrien Rabiot (29) was welcomed by 1,400 Olympique de Marseille supporters as he prepared to undergo his medical and complete his move to Les Olympiens. Speaking to BFM, the former Juventus midfielder spoke about the negotiations that took place before he agreed to move to the Ligue 1 club.

Rabiot has been looking for a club for almost three months after he left the Bianconeri as a free agent following the expiry of his contract at the end of June. The midfielder was linked with a move to many clubs but as the transfer window closed across Europe, the former PSG player was still left without a club. That’s where OM came in.

Late on Sunday evening, Les Phocéens confirmed that they had agreed a deal to sign the 29-year-old on a free transfer subject to him passing a medical. Rabiot revealed that he did not expect the move to go any further than initial negotiations, “At first it seemed unlikely, but after talking a lot with Medhi, we got reached an agreement. I also spoke with the coach… The project really spoke to me. A city that lives for football, it makes you want to play and win.”
