La Liga outfit Real Betis have provided an update on the wellbeing of star midfielder Isco Alarcón.

As much, of course, comes after the former Real Madrid man was last week dealt nothing short of a hammer blow on the injury front.

In the thick of a remarkable comeback campaign on the books of the aforementioned Betis, Isco was forced to limp out of the Verdiblancos’ La Liga meeting with Las Palmas.

An ensuing round of medical tests revealed that the 32-year-old had suffered a fracture to the fibula in his left leg.

This saw not only his season brought to an end, but Isco’s Euro 2024 hopes with Spain dashed, too.

Those of a Real Betis persuasion will in turn no doubt be interested to hear of an update coming to the fore regarding their star performer’s recovery.

As per an official statement released by the Andalusian club, Isco has undergone a ‘successful’ procedure on his left leg, ahead of an incoming period of ‘home rest and post-surgical monitoring’:

‘Isco Alarcón underwent successful surgery at the Viamed Santa Ángela de la Cruz Hospital.

‘The operation has been directed by the Real Betis Balompié trauma team; Drs. Muela, Montilla and Ribera together with Dr. Álvarez, first team doctor. The player will be discharged in the next few hours and will maintain home rest and post-surgical monitoring by the Club’s medical services to later begin his physiotherapy and rehabilitation work.’
