Simone Inzaghi has explained which part of Barcelona’s game makes them one of the strongest teams in the world ahead of Inter’s trip to the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys for the first leg of the Champions League semi-final on Wednesday night.

Inter and Barcelona will meet for the first leg of their semi-final tie on Wednesday night and will face off again in San Siro for the second leg next Tuesday. The winner of this tie will go on to face either Arsenal or PSG in the final at the end of May.

Inzaghi explains what makes Barcelona one of the best teams in the world

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Tuesday night, Inzaghi gave a full analysis of Barcelona, what makes them a great team and what Inter need to do in order to return to Milano with an advantage in the tie.

The Nerazzurri coach explained that Barca’s organisation out of possession, for which he credits Hansi Flick, is what makes them such a difficult team to play against.

“It’s a team we’re familiar with, Flick is a great coach who has brought a lot of organisation to a great attacking team,” Inzaghi told the press, reported via TMW.

BARCELONA, SPAIN – APRIL 09: Hansi Flick, Head Coach of FC Barcelona, acknowledges the fans after his team’s victory in the UEFA Champions League 2024/25 Quarter Final First Leg match between FC Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys on April 09, 2025 in Barcelona, Spain. “They are among the most organised teams in the world when they lose the ball: The offensive players all get progressively better. “It’s a team that’s been built over time, with lots of players who have come through the youth sector. They have incredible numbers and have won two titles, and they’re competing for more.”

Despite the obvious threats that Barcelona bring with their attacking unit of Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski, Inzaghi insists that Inter have nothing to be afraid of.

“We have the utmost respect, but no fear. We’re talking about Barcelona, Bayern, Real, City, Arsenal – They’re all great opponents in a tournament where you have this level of competition, but we’ve had an amazing journey. We want to have a semi-final like a true Inter side tomorrow.

“Everyone has their own philosophy. Bayern is different to Barca, even if they are similar in some ways. We will have to give everything we did against Bayern again, with a lot of fluidity. We’ve worked a lot on video in the last few days and put it on the pitch today.”
