Simone Inzaghi admitted he is ‘worried’ after Inter’s second defeat in a row, a heavy 3-0 loss against Milan, which saw them eliminated by the Coppa Italia, meaning they can no longer complete a treble this season.
The Nerazzurri coach insisted the Rossoneri deserve ‘credit’ for their win but noted that the team ‘ran out of energy’ in the second half, during which they proved unable to react to Luka Jovic’s opener, definitely crumbling after the visitors’ second goal.

“We’re sorry for our fans, who once again showed up in great numbers tonight,” Inzaghi told SportMediaset in a post-match interview.
“That’s football—you have to give credit to Milan.”
“There’s regret for the first half, because based on what we created, we would’ve deserved more.
“In the second half, we conceded from a corner kick, and luck wasn’t exactly on our side either. After that, we did a lot less compared to the first half.
“Of course [I’m worried]—we’re not used to losing two in a row.
“We need to analyse both defeats the right way. We didn’t deserve to lose in Bologna, and tonight we ran out of energy in the second half.

“De Vrij’s goal might’ve reopened the match, but credit to Milan—they’ve consistently caused us problems in all five meetings this season. We, myself first and foremost, should’ve done more.”
Inter now face a critical string of matches that promises to be decisive for their season, as Sunday’s postponed clash against Roma will be followed by the Champions League semifinal first-leg at Barcelona, and Inzghi acknowledged his side is dealing with ‘physical and mental fatigue’ at this crucial stage of the season.
“We have to keep going,” Inzaghi continued.
“There’s both physical and mental fatigue—we need to be stronger than all of that.
“This journey has brought us a lot of joy, but also some disappointments, like tonight. We should’ve done better—we lacked sharpness in both boxes at key moments of the game.”
However, Inzaghi admitted that fatigue can’t be ‘an excuse’ for his side, and urged his players to ‘keep going with confidence’.
“It can’t be an excuse,” the coach remarked.
“We need to show maximum focus in the penalty areas, and tonight we didn’t. Every team is dealing with fatigue.

“We’ve had a more packed schedule than others, but again, it’s not an excuse. If we didn’t make it to the final, it means we didn’t do enough.
“It’s April 24th—there’s one month left, and we have to keep going with confidence. Tonight, Milan deserved it, and it’s only right that they’re going to the final.
“We’ll try to bounce back and give it our all on Sunday against Roma.”
