Inzaghi: ‘Eriksson showed his strength in these last few months’ | OneFootball

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is ‘deeply’ saddened by the death of his former coach Sven-Göran Eriksson: ‘In these last few months, he showed his strength and desire to live, another demonstration of his greatness.’

Inzaghi released a statement on Inter’s official website following the death of his ex-coach Eriksson.

Inzaghi played 57 games under Eriksson at Lazio, scoring 26 goals.

“The death of Sven-Göran Eriksson is deeply saddening for me. I was really young, I’d just arrived in Rome and he helped me a lot,” said the Italian coach.

“He was fundamental in my development as a player and a man. I admired his calmness, how polite he was and the way he really respected everybody. He was a source of inspiration for me. I’m here today thanks partly to him and what he taught me.

“Sven was a great man, an example in life for us all. In these last few months, he showed his strength and desire to live, another demonstration of his greatness. He taught us to live while he was dying. Rest in peace, Sven, and thank you for everything. You will always be with me.”
