FC Barcelona have had a brilliant season under Hansi Flick, winning the domestic treble in his first season in charge. They were agonizingly close to making it to the Champions League final as well but Inter Milan knocked them out with a late surge.
The two legs against Inter were an absolute Champions League classic. Both teams put out a spectacle across the two games, with the game finishing 7-6 on aggregate. One player who was incredible for Barcelona was Lamine Yamal.
Playing in his first Champions League semifinals, Lamine showed no nerves and absolutely tormented the Inter backline. Alessandro Bastoni and Federico Dimarco, in particular, had to take the brunt across the two games. Had Barcelona won, the teenager’s displays would have gone into the history books.

Now, in a video released on the Champions League official Twitter account, Inter players were asked about the toughest player they faced this season. All of them unanimously had the same response: Lamine Yamal.
This included Inter stars like Bastoni, Sommer, Thuram, Frattesi, Asllani, and Dimarco, who were asked this question. The kind of impact that the Barcelona star had in those two games seems to have left a lasting impression on the Inter players.
It is important to remember that Inter have played some of the biggest teams in the world this season. Apart from just the Italian giants, they have also faced teams like Manchester City, Arsenal and Bayern Munich and Lamine has outdone players from all these teams.

Lamine is on the verge of signing a new contract with Barcelona that would extend his stay until 2031 at the very least. It is frightening to think that at the time that contract runs out, he would still be just 23 years old.
With a contract extension set to keep him at Barcelona until at least 2031, Lamine Yamal’s future looks brighter than ever. That he’s already earned such admiration from elite opponents at just 17 is remarkable and if his trajectory continues, he won’t just make history; he’ll define it. The journey is just beginning, and the football world will be watching closely.
