Inter Milan want to return to winning ways in head-to-head matches with direct Serie A rivals against Fiorentina tomorrow.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
One of Inter’s big strengths under Simone Inzaghi has been their performances in big matches.
The Nerazzurri coach has earned a reputation as a knockout match specialist.
This has led to Inter winning the Coppa Italia twice and the Supercoppa Italiana three times since Inzaghi took over.
There have also been plenty of memorable big match performances in the Champions League.
And in Serie A, Inter have generally gotten it right in the biggest matches.
Even in the 2022-23 season, the Nerazzurri were the first team to beat rampant champions Napoli. It was dropped points against “smaller” teams that proved fatal in that campaign.
This season, Inter have certainly looked up to the “big” matches in the Champions League.
The Nerazzurri’s performance and victory over Arsenal earlier this month underlined that fact.
But in Serie A, Inter have only managed one real statement win against a direct rival. That was a 4-0 win over Atalanta early on in the campaign.
A bitter loss against AC Milan, and draws against Juventus and Napoli followed.
Tomorrow, however, Inter take on Fiorentina. The two sides are level on points at the top end of the table going into the match.
And a win tomorrow would be the perfect way for Inter to reassert their strength in the big head-to-head clashes.
