Lille star striker Jonathan David has delivered a significant update on his contract renewal amid growing interest from Inter Milan.

During his latest interview with La Voix du Nord via FCInterNews, the Canadian goal-getter left the door open for an extension at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

However, there’s a widespread feeling he’ll sever his five-year association with the Ligue 1 outfit at the end of the season.

Les Dogues paid Gent an eye-watering €30 million to sign the 24-year-old in the summer of 2020.

Indeed, David joined the club as a much-needed replacement for Victor Osimhen, who left for Napoli that year.

He would go on to become one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards.

Yet, David’s contract expires in June 2025. Therefore, Lille are desperate to tie him down to a new long-term deal.

That’s been anything but plain sailing.

Jonathan David has generated interest from European elite clubs, including Inter, Juventus, and Barcelona.

Furthermore, Saudi Pro League giants Al-Nassr have recently joined the picture.

As such, he has become one of the hottest prospects in the market.

Inter Milan Target Jonathan David Offers Update on Renewal Talks with Lille

David has been the focal point of Lille’s attack this season.

Indeed, he has racked up 17 goals and five assists across 26 appearances in all competitions.

Manager Bruno Genesio wants to keep him on board at all costs.

Negotiations between the parties are underway.

However, the player will have the final say.

“As President Letang has said on several occasions, there are ongoing discussions,” David stated.

“We are talking, and no decision has been made yet. I am not closing any doors; it’s a 50-50 situation.”

Meanwhile, Inter and Juventus are lurking in the shadows.

After Mehdi Taremi’s troubled start to life at Giuseppe Meazza, Beppe Marotta could intensify his pursuit of David.

But Juventus could throw a spanner in the works as they need a reliable alternative for Dusan Vlahovic.
