Santiago Castro has emerged as a major target for Inter in attack.

The Nerazzurri are certain to move for a forward this summer. The likes of Marko Arnautovic and Joaquin Correa will be leaving at the end of their contracts, and require replacing.

And Inter’s priority is to sign a much younger striker. Nerazzurri owners Oaktree Capital want to invest in a player with room to grow rather than make a short-term signing of a veteran.

Castro has emerged as a player who ticks all of Inter’s boxes.

At twenty years of age, the Bologna striker certainly would fall within the age profile that Oaktree want at the club.

And despite his age, Santiago Castro has already been proving himself within Serie A.

This season, the Argentine has been a key player in attack for Bologna.

Inter see Castro as both an adept goalscorer, and a source of holdup play and defensive workrate, similar to his countryman and current Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez.

Therefore, the Gazzetta report, there’s little doubt that Inter will make an attempt to sign Castro.

Moreover, the newspaper anticipate, that move could come sooner rather than later.

Inter could take advantage of the extended transfer window prior to the Club World Cup this summer. They could aim to give Castro his first experience in the squad at that tournament.
