Inter Milan forward Joaquin Correa says that he’s happy because the whole team is happy after his performance against Hellas Verona.
The 30-year-old spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, at the end of the 5-0 Serie A victory for the Nerazzurri, in which he scored one goal and made two assists.
Inter got a 5-0 win over Hellas Verona this evening to return to Serie A from the international break in emphatic style and go top of the league table for the next few hours at least.
It was a surprising match in many respects.
Not least for the fact that Joaquin Correa got his fist start of the season for the Nerazzurri.
The Argentine had been expected by many to leave Inter during the summer transfer window. However, he stuck around. And he has featured a few times from the bench this season.
However, this afternoon, it was more than just a cameo from Correa.
And the 30-year-old made the most of his chance in the Inter starting eleven. Correa scored Inter’s opener and also made two assists.
The Argentine former Lazio forward set up his strike partner Marcus Thuram, and then defender Yann Bisseck.
Correa certainly hasn’t always had this kind of key role for Inter. He has found himself on the bench more often than not this season.
However, the Argentine insisted that “I can’t say it’s been hard for me, because my teammates help me.”
“I’m calm about it,” Correa said.
“I work hard in training,” the Argentine added.
“And I’m happy because everyone was happy because I played well today.”
Meanwhile, Correa confirmed that his backheel assist for Inter defender Bisseck was “intentional, and then he had some fortune with the goal.”
“Everyone was happy,” Correa said.
“That makes me very proud, because we’re all on the same path and we have to keep going like we have been.”
