Transfer rumors continue to ramp up for FC Barcelona as the market continues to see developments. For La Blaugrana, however, only the most necessary of targets will be pursued. Unfortunately, Barcelona has not had too much success so far even when doing that.

After all, the failure of the Nico Williams operation was an unexpected occurrence, and it has definitely left behind a sour taste. Still, Barcelona cannot afford to sit around and point fingers or understand where things went wrong. Instead, the club needs to get its act together for other operations.
While the priority remains to sign a new left-winger, it seems clear enough that Barcelona will not ignore other market opportunities. This also includes the likes of Marcus Rashford, with the English player reportedly now in contact with the Catalan giants as well.
However, the market opportunity concerning Inter Milan star Denzel Dumfries is still there for Barcelona to assess and potentially look further into. Moreover, as per a recent report, his salary is quite affordable for the Catalan giants as well.
According to SPORT, the salary of Dumfries could end up being a key element regarding whether or not Barcelona decide to pursue his signing. Reportedly, the Dutch full-back has a salary of €4 million per year and it fits within the budget of Barcelona.
Moreover, the player himself remains enthusiastic about joining the club and that could be a major detail to keep in mind as well as per the report. Moreover, SPORT reports that the player has also communicated this to his agent Jorge Mendes and is waiting for Barça’s response.
However, despite reports suggesting that Manchester City was also interested in the player, this report now suggests otherwise. It states that the club led by Pep Guardiola has cooled its interest in the Dutchman but other Premier League clubs remain interested.
As for Barcelona, they will now have to assess if paying his €25 million release clause is worth it for them. With the club reportedly having been informed about this clause by his agent, Jorge Mendes, the ball now seems to be in Barça’s court moving forward.
