Inter Milan are seriously considering how to proceed after a serious injury suffered by wingback Tajon Buchanan.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews.

It has now been around 24 hours after Inter got some very unwelcome news regarding 25-year-old wingback Buchanan.

The Canadian is currently with his national team at the Copa America. There, he has picked up a serious injury.

Yesterday in training, Buchanan suffered a broken tibia.

The injury occurred while the Inter wingback challenged for a ball with a teammate, according to reports.

What is clear is that Buchanan will be out for a while. He will require surgery, and reports suggest that the recovery period will be a minimum of 4-5 months.

Therefore, Buchanan will not be back until the last few weeks of 2024 at the earliest. It may not be until next year that the Canadian is able to return.

Inter Seriously Considering How To Address Tajon Buchanan Injury

Buchanan’s injury leaves Inter in a bind.

The 25-year-old was set to be an important player in terms of their squad depth in the wingback positions next season.

However, Inter do have all of Federico Dimarco, Carlos Augusto, Matteo Darmian, and Denzel Dumfries who can play in the wide roles.

But on the other hand, Darmian and Augusto both played a significant number of minutes in defense last season.

Inter are thinking about how they want to handle the injury to Buchanan.

A signing would be possible to reinforce the wingback depth over the first few months of next season. But it is not a foregone conclusion.

In the meantime, Sky report, wingback Dumfries is getting closer and closer to extending his contract.

This will become all the more important with Buchanan’s injury.

This means that Inter will not be selling Dumfries this summer.
